Last week I had the great pleasure to attend a MAC Master Class with Paulo Almeida MAC Regional Director Artist Training & Development for Europe. Let me start by saying I felt so honoured to have had the chance to meet Paulo, such a charismatic, creative and experienced Senior Artist who attends and influences fashion shows all over the world.
He was so kind to show us some live demonstrations, gave us some useful tips and tricks and of course he told us all about the SS 16 makeup trends. Are you ready to discover the trends with me? Let's start then!
SUMMER SS16 TRENDS
This season it is all about "all or nothing" so from one hand you will have strong statements and bold colours and or confident minimalism that's fresh, raw and radiant. But don't forget it is all about individuality!
Paulo was able to show us three looks which represent the SS 16 trends so let's start discovering the first look. All of the three looks are absolutely stunning in their own ways but I must say I have fallen in love with the look number 2 which is also the one I have recreated and you can see it in the photos below!
Trend 1
This trend look is really strong and bold. Be prepared for bright colours and glitter as you can see from the pictures below showing the end result. Paulo used the new Pro Longwear Waterproof Colour Sticks in Frisky Blue and Madly Sunny. These jumbo pencils are long-wearing vibrant and impactful as well as delivering high definition colour. The fact that they are also waterproof makes this perfect for Summer as your colour stays put whathever the weather.
Paulo also used the Technakohl Liner in Funfare a bright True Pink and to finish the look he added some Glitters ( Mixing Medium Shine).
Trend 2
This trend was by far my favorite out of the three and it is also the one I have chosen to recreate with the help of MAC Makeup Artist Nazy. It is the look of a beautiful doll, with black eyeliner and bold bright red lips. So gorgeous and chic! Paulo used the Fluidline Eyeliner in Blacktrack. Thanks to its ultra-smooth formula it provides a precision application all with a silky and soft finish. Paulo then went on with the new Pro Beyond Twisted Lash Mascara which has a flexible wand that can bend up to a 90 degree angle this way you can reach top, bottom, inner and outer lashes with a clear view. He also used the Instacurl Lash Mascara ( not available yet) which he refers as the "shark" for its resemblance to a shark's fin.
On the lips Currant Lipliner, Clear Lipgloss and the new Versicolour Stain which is the perfect fusion between a gloss and stain.
Trend 3
Very much a look who represents so well the raw look as seen in the shows of DSQUARED and Blumarine.
The look was created by using the Studio Waterweight Foundation, as it gives a nice coverage and you don't need a lot of it, it gives a nice texture on the skin. The look wants to give the impression of a raw but refined skin which also sees the use of bronzing ( Studio Sculpt Powder Vibe Tribe) and blush ( Mineralize Blush in Dainty) but not in a exagerate way.
Paulo even recreated some freckles by using the Penultimate Brow Marker and Brown Down Eyeshadow mixed with water. It is important when creating faux freckles to make sure they look everything but fake to make them in different sizes and intensity for a great result.
