Victoria Thomas, a flight attendant for British Airways for 20 years loves the mix of sun, sand and sea and already visited a lot of beaches in the world. Below she presents her top 10 favorite places to swim in the US.

The Siesta Beach has the first place in the "TripAdvisor's 2015 Travellers' Choice Awards" in the category best beaches in the US . The sparkling white sand and the views over the azure waters of the Gulf of Mexico are like a paradise.
# 2 Waikiki Beach, Hawaii
There is probably no better place to learn to surf that Honolulu breathtaking Waikiki Beach. The beach offers ideal conditions: the waves are gentle enough for beginners, yet big enough to challenge even experienced surfers.
# 3 Laguna Beach, California
The fans of the reality show with the same name has made the postcard setting of Laguna Beach well known: Rushing waves, crystal clear waters, soft sand and fine restaurants - a wonderful stretch of coastline in Orange County, California.
# 4 South Beach, Miami Beach, Florida
Miami's South Beach enjoys cult status and has been awarded several times as one of the top places to swim. "The American Riviera" is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches of the USA with the gleaming white sands and crystal clear waters.

This sun-paradise consists of a 16 kilometer long sandy beach perfect for swimming, surfing or even fishing. Action lovers will include "OC", as the locals call it, once in the heart, because a Jet Ski rental is available as well as the chance to ride a horse along the beach.

The Pier at Mission Beach invites to leisurely explore an on roller skates or by bicycle. The beach is for surfers and fishermen alike popular and is also ideal for a spontaneous game of volleyball. Shipwrecks around 800 meters off the coast also offer great diving opportunities.

The Daytona Beach is regarded as "the most famous beach in the world" and is located approximately 80 kilometers northeast from the theme parks of Orlando. The beach is known for its vast open stretches of sand, on which earlier car and motorcycle races took place. Today, the Daytona Beach is still traveled but on four wheels.

Baker Beach is the ideal place for relaxing days and is perfect for a volleyball game at sunset or a frisbee match with views of the famous Golden Gate Bridge. Although the beach can sometimes be a little crowded, that only contributes to create that relaxed party atmosphere.
