Opening night of the 68th Locarno Film Festival

The first night at Locarno Film Festival was truly special. The night started off on the red carpet and the great oppurtunity to see Edward Norton so up close. He then went on stage to receive the Moet & Chandon Excellence Award.
Carlo Chatrian, Festival’s Artistic Director:
“I’m very happy and proud to welcome Edward Norton to Locarno. He is someone who has shown immense talent in giving shape to characters as fascinating and complex as the times in which we live. I’m certain that his presence will leave its mark on the 2015 edition, giving the public a chance to better get to know one of the most interesting figures of 21st-century Hollywood.”

What do you know about the Festival del film Locarno?
Well, it’s almost 70 years now that filmmakers have brought great films to this festival. Roma città aperta was presented at the first year of the Festival and that’s a favorite of mine. So many great filmmakers have been celebrated here and I’m honored to be a small part of that tradition.

This prestigious award celebrates international acclaimed actors and actresses who through their work and also their talent have enriched the cinema with an immense contribution.
The presence of such a huge Hollywood star in Locarno has really given the 68th a special start and it will certainly be one for the albums.

After the Award it was time for the World Premiere of Ricky and the Flash a great concert film played by Meryl Streep. In the movie she is playing the guitar and singing many rock hits. The movie is a family drama, a comedy and a journey of redemption all together.
Meryl Streep in the movie plays Ricky who has to live with the guilty feeling of having abandoned her family to try to pursue her dream of becoming a rockstar.
What makes this family drama even more intriguing is the fact the to play the role of Meryl Streep's daughter is Mamie Gummer  her daughter also in real life.
