Very little things are more important than coffee for Italians..perhaps football would be the only real opponent..
That is why you MUST learn this phrase : "Prendiamo un caffé?".. Fancy a coffee? As this is an essential part of daily life in Italy.
Coffee culture is an important aspect of life in Italy and every region has its own set of traditions and different ways of enjoying coffee.
In 2013 Nespresso celebrated this diversity through the cities of Naples and Trieste, both unique and contrasting coffee.
This year Nespresso is launching Tribute to Milano and Tribute to Palermo, two Limited Edition ristrettos which pay tribute to the diversity and richness of Italian coffee culture, inspired by two contrasting cities Milano and Palermo.
A bar in the heart of Palermo is an important meeeting point for local
social life – a place to eat, drink, meet new people and talk football of course!
In Summer, Sicilians will bask on a sun
drenched terrace to unwind with a caffè freddo or a strong
caffè savoured with traditional, rich Sicilian pastries.
Nespresso’s Tribute to Palermo is inspired by the relaxed
and social coffee culture in Palermo and pays homage
to the Sicilian’s love of a strong coffee. It is a powerful,
intense and full bodied ristretto with a silky texture
reminiscent of a leisurely afternoon in the sun.
Nespresso’s coffee experts were also inspired by the
vibrancy of the Sicilian outdoor markets, alive with
colourful spices, fresh produce and flowers so the cacao
aromas and spicy peppery notes evoke an experience
in amongst the locals at the market.
Milan has played a significant role in shaping Italy’s
coffee history and first introduced the espresso at the
World Fair in 1906. Today the espresso is so iconic and
is such an important part of daily life that the word is no
longer used – it is simply un caffè.
Tribute to Milano is Nespresso’s interpretation of the
hustle and bustle of the vibrant and fashionable city of Milan, where
coffee is enjoyed at a fast pace whilst standing at the
bar.
Inspired by the perfect balance of elegance and
intensity at the architecturally impressive Galleria
Vittorio Emanuele II, Tribute to Milano is also a perfect mix of elegance and intensity.
A highly aromatic ristretto, Tribute to Milano transports
you to a traditional gelateria in the heart of Milan with its
fine fruity aromas and sweet cereal notes
Tribute to Milano is elegant and highly aromatic much like
the incredible city architecture whilst Tribute to Palermo
pays homage to the traditional outdoor markets with
spicy peppery notes.
Whichever you choose, both ristrettos will allow you
to become immersed deep in the atmosphere of
these enchanting Italian cities.
“Following the launch of our Trieste and Napoli Limited Edition coffees, we wanted to
continue our tribute to Italy by paying homage to the unique coffee cultures of Milan and
Palermo. Tribute to Milano is our interpretation of the hustle and bustle of the elegant and
vibrant city of Milan, where coffee is enjoyed at a fast pace whilst standing at the bar. In
contrast, Tribute to Palermo is a powerful, intense and full bodied ristretto. We were inspired
by the scents of the Sicilian outdoor markets, alive with colourful spices, so the cacao
aromas and spicy peppery notes evoke an experience in amongst the locals at the market.”
commented Karsten Ranitzsch, Head of Coffee at Nespresso.
Both Tribute to Milano and Tribute to Palermo are made with the finest Arabica and Robusta and really give you an extraordinary coffee experience and will appeal to intense coffee lovers and can be enjoyed black but also with a little milk.
You can also enjoy the full intensity of Tribute to Milano in a Latte Macchiato
offering you a creamier or savour Tribute to Palermo in a
cappuccino without losing any of this blend’s full body and powerful character. But don't forget to never order a cappuccino in Italy after 11 a.m as this will really mark you as a tourist!
So whether you choose to pay tribute to Milano, Palermo or both, the two delightful Limited Editions will immerse you in a true Italian atmosphere of these two beautiful cities.
