Lanson: Champagne since 1760

The House of Lanson was founded in 1760 by François Delamotte a very influential character in Reims society. He then went to found his own Champagne House one of the first ever founded. With over 500 hectares of vines in the region of Champagne, Lanson has always been able select the best grapes.
The House of Lanson  blends its champagnes using a majority of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay this way they can achieve the perfect balance of power and finesse.
The key to Lanson's style are freshness and energy which are also closely linked to the House's commitment to using a traditional wine-making method without malolactic fermentation.
Lanson puts emphasis on fruit and richness of aromas and it is always on the search for purity in its wines.

Today I am going to present you with my favourite from the House of Lanson: the Rose Label. The Rose Label is a blend of 53% Pinot Noir, 32% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier from a number of crus and almost ten differen years. Just like the Black Label it goes through a long maturation of at least three years in the cellar.
Lanson Rose it is a delicate wine and one of the first ever rosé to be created back in 1950s. It has an aroma of rose and fine fragrances of red fruits which echo the pale pink colour.
It leaves you with a tender, long lasting sensation and it seduces you with its harmonious balance roundness and freshness. It paires well with meat dishes but also with desserts served with some fresh red fruits.

  1. I looooove my bubbly. I am not much of a wine drinker (and beer not at all) but I love sparkling wine, cava, prosecco and champagne. Never tried Lanson though.
