Five days of screenings, concerts and free Dj sets will go on before the beginning of the 70th edition of the Locarno Film Festival and will continue until the last day of the festival. The event will this way have a 360 ° creating an ever more engaging and rich experience thanks to two new places, a garden in the heart of old town and a new space for exchange and meeting that from this year will join "La Rotonda".
In its long history alongside film programming Locarno Film Festival has always distinguished itself for the conviviality offered to its audience. A trait of his identity that on the occasion of the 70th anniversary saw new developments starting from July 28th until August 13rd 2017.
La Rotonda, the village of the Festival
On July 28th La Rotonda which is known as the village of the Festival will open its doors. On the program there are 17 evenings with music, entertainment, ethnic cuisine and even an open market. Just like last year, music entertainment will be in the hands of RSI Rete Tre with a rich program of live concerts and Dj set. Every day, from 6pm to 9pm, you will also be able to follow the Rotonda activities with the PardOn radio broadcast.
The musical offer will also be complemented by a Virtual Reality Corner (August 2-12), where you can experience the latest film productions in collaboration with the Geneva International Film Festival Tous Ecrans. For the second year in the middle of LaRotonda there will be the Grand Hotel Swisscom, the Festival club that resumes the spirit of the historic meeting place of the locarno kermesse and hosts every night from 1:00 pm the exclusive silent disco "Silent Party", ensuring the best entertainment until the small hours.

Locarno Garden La Mobiliare, the Garden of the Festival
On the 29th of July there will be the opening of the Locarno Garden the Mobiliare at the Balli Park, in the heart of the Old Town. At the center of the festival garden, the colorful pavilion E will be erected created by artist Kerim Seiler. The musical animation, organized by the Turba Association of Lugano, will offer a sophisticated programming and the offer will be completed by a choice of local culinary offering.

Pre-Festival
On July 30rd and 31st it will be the turn of the two traditional free nights of the Pre-festival, with the same screenings in Piazza Grande. On 30 July, with the support of Ascona-Locarno Tourism, James Bond, one of the most beloved movie icons ever, will inaugurate the film program with Goldfinger (1964), directed by Guy Hamilton which is also part of the photographic exhibition Backdrop Switzerland, dedicated to films that have chosen Switzerland as a scenery and which opened on June 1st at the Elusarion Cultural Center in Minusio.
The second evening of Pre-festival on July 31st thanks to the support of Press and Books by Valora, will bring to the Piazza Grande a friend of the Festival and a filmmaker: Marco Tullio Giordana, the beloved Italian filmmaker, already Pardo d'oro in 1980 with "Maledetti io vi amerò".
Locarno Talks Bar La Mobiliare
Signed by the Swiss artist Kerim Seiler will also be the new scenery of the Spazio Cinema (Forum), with the Locarno Talks Bar La Mobiliare. A meeting point and exchange for the festivals goers in between films at Palexpo ( FEVI) and La Sala and L'Altra Sala.
